When the Times Books International needed some photos for their Cultures of the World series in 1999, who better to contribute than Bridget. With sister Rosie and friend Mary, they took their bicycles on the plane to the then-capital city Almaty. There they recorded statuesque Soviet era architecture, markets, women cooks, unemployed men, Muslim Kazaks and Russians together.
