These photos date from the early 2000s when Romania had cast off the Communist state but not yet joined the European Union. Traditional rural life had survived in remote rural areas. The Moti people still made horse-drawn journeys from the Apuseni mountains to sell their wood in the sunny lowland plains along the Hungarian border. Bridget and Rosie her sister cycled alongside them. Back home Bridget hand-crafted this black and white series which she later exhibited in Arieseni village.
